How Cliqstr Works

Cliqstr is built for everyone — families, friends, and communities — who want a simple, private, safe place to share without algorithms, ads, or strangers. Everything happens inside Cliqs: your spaces for conversations, photos, and updates.

You can create more than one cliq depending on your plan, each with its own privacy level and membership rules.

Types of Cliqs

Private Cliqs

Private Cliqs are your most secure spaces.

By invitation from the cliq owner or moderator
Invited people can join as Guest Pass users or full Members
Not visible in Browse Cliqs — not searchable or exposed to other members
No one can request to join
Perfect for your household, your kids, close friends, or private life events

Example: One cliq for your immediate family, another for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Semi-Private Cliqs

Semi-Private Cliqs appear in Browse Cliqs but require approval by the cliq owner or a moderator to join.

Visible to Cliqstr members in Browse Cliqs
Join requests are approved by the cliq owner or moderator
Good for groups where you want some visibility but full control over entry

Example: Wedding planning, school project teams, extended family memorial groups, reunion planning.

Public Cliqs

(Still protected. Still members-only.)

Public Cliqs appear in Browse Cliqs and can be found by logged-in Cliqstr members. If the cliq isn't age-gated, members can join and become members automatically; age gates and other rules (e.g. parents-only) still apply when set.

Age-gated or restricted: must meet the rules to join

Example: Book clubs, gardening groups, photography circles, hobby communities, tech discussions.

Important Difference

Even "public" cliqs on Cliqstr are not exposed to the open internet.

•A sampling may appear on the homepage for inspiration
•To see inside or participate, you must join the cliq first
•The cliq owner controls who enters

No strangers, no outside scraping, and no public search engine indexing — ever.

For Parents

Cliqstr is designed to be safe for youth and simple for parents.

Users under 18 require verified parent or guardian approval
Parents choose which cliqs their child can join
No one outside approved cliqs can interact with their child
No DMs, no friend requests, no random contact

Getting started may feel new, so we recommend helping your child set up their account. You'll see Parent HQ during sign-up with step-by-step guidance.

How Safety Works on Cliqstr

Cliqstr provides two ways to raise safety concerns: Flagging and Red Alert.

Flagging (Report Content or Behavior)

Use Flagging when something feels wrong or breaks the rules, but it’s not an immediate emergency.

Open the post or profile and tap Flag
Select what happened and add any helpful details
Our safety and moderation workflow reviews the report and may route it for human review
We may remove content or take account action when needed

Red Alert (Urgent Safety Concern)

Use Red Alert when you believe someone may be at serious risk and needs urgent attention.

Tap Red Alert and share what you know
The alert is prioritized for faster review through our safety workflow
In eligible child-safety situations, we attempt parent/guardian notification through available channels
Crisis support resources may be shown in-app when relevant

What to Do in an Emergency

Call 911 (or your local emergency services) first.

Important Limits / Availability

Cliqstr is not an emergency response service
We can’t promise instant review or message delivery
Some safety features may vary by account or region as we continue rolling out improvements
Planned roadmap items are not active protections until officially released

Some safety and moderation features rely in part on third-party services and technical infrastructure, and they may be unavailable, delayed, or degraded. Cliqstr does not promise continuous availability of automated moderation features or detection of all harmful content.

Planned safety controls include additional child safety controls, including CSAM safeguards, in phased rollout until officially released.
